Blandino (seen here batting earlier this season) picked up the win on the mound

Freshman righty Matt Blandino pithced a complete game and allowed just one run as the Central Connecticut baseball team topped Bryant 3-1 on Sunday to grab the final game of the weekend series.  Blandino allowed nine hits and struck out four in the victory.  With the win the Blue Devils are now 11-12 overall and 3-5 in Northeast Conference play.  Bryant is 22-10 and 3-1 in the NEC.

Bryant got on the board first with a solo home run in the bottom of the first inning.  It would be the only run of the game surrendered by Blandino and the Blue Devils and one of just three extra-base hits.

The Blue Devils tied the game with a run in the top of the fourth inning.  An RBI single from senior Anthony Turgeon scored classmate Josh Ingham who had singled and went to second on a passed ball.

Two runs in the top of the sixth inning proved to be the difference for the Blue Devils.  With one out and a man on first, junior Dom Severino who had singled, Turgeon singled to the pitcher but a throwing error Severino to score and allowed Turgeon to reach third base.  He scored on a wild pitch making it 3-1.

Blandino retired the final seven batters and nine of the last 10 to earn his second victory of the season.  He is now 2-1.

Turgeon had a pair of his and the lone RBI of the game for the Blue Devils.  Freshman Pat Sirois added two hits in the win.
