Juniors Buddy Dewaine and Dave Matthews were named to the Fayetteville Regional All-Tournament Team as voted on by the media it was announced following the conclusion of games in the regional. Dewaine was named as the third baseman, while Matthews earned a spot in the outfield. The duo helped the Blue Devils earn the program's first NCAA win with a victory over #24 California in Saturday's elimination game.
Central concluded the season with a 31-23 record and won the program's sixth Northeast Conference title under head coach Charlie Hickey.
Dewaine hit .385 (5-for-13) with three runs scored and two runs batted in. Dewaine went 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and hit a solo homerun in the eighth inning of CCSU's 7-4 win over Cal. He closed out the regional going 3-for-5 with a double and triple and run batted in against TCU on Sunday.
Matthews also hit .385 (5-for-13) and led the Blue Devils with five RBIs in three games. He also scored three runs and hit a pair of doubles. In Saturday's win over Cal, Matthews went 3-for-4 and drove in four runs. He tied the game with an RBI single in the third inning and then put Central ahead with a three-run homerun in the fifth inning. He had two hits and a run against TCU on Sunday, including an RBI-single in the first inning.
