Men's Basketball Heads to Loyola Marymount Wednesday Night

Central Connecticut plays its third straight road game with a trip to Loyola Marymount on Wednesday night in Los Angeles. The Blue Devils and Lions were both in the field at the Jersey Mike's Jamaica Classic in Montego Bay, Jamaica. CCSU is 3-2 on the year after splitting games in Jamaica.

The Blue Devils had five players in double-figures and eased by Florida A&M, 89-75, on Sunday. Senior Tyler Kohl led the way with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Central fell to Austin Peay, 80-78, on Friday in the opening game of the tournament. Kohl earned All-Tournament Team honors for the Rose Hall Division. Kohl was also named Northeast Conference Player of the Week on Monday, while freshman Ian Krishnan earned Rookie of the Week.

The Lions are 5-0 on the year after defeating Ohio (65-56) and Georgetown (65-52). James Batemon was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week and has led LMU to it's best start since 2003-04.

SERIES HISTORY • Loyola Marymount leads, 1-0. The teams are meeting for the 2nd time, having previously met in the Mohegan Sun Classic on CCSU's home court in New Britain, CT, in 2003. The Lions took that meeting, 58-57.

KOHL OPENS SEASON STRONG • Tyler Kohl has been named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week in each of the season's first two weeks. Kohl averaged 20.0 ppg, 8.2 ppg, 6.0 apg and 1.0 spg while earning a spot on the Jamaica Classic All-Tournament Team. Kohl posted his second double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 boards in Central's win over Florida A&M. He hit 10-of-11 foul shots and gave out seven assists.  The 6-5 senior has been among the best players in the league thus far, ranking 1st in scoring (21.8 ppg), 2nd in assists (5.6 apg) and 3rd in rebounding (8.6 rpg).
KRISHNAN COLLECTS WEEKLY HONOR • Ian Krishnan was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week on Monday after averaging 18.3 ppg and hitting 60 percent of his shots - 47.1 percent from the arc. Krishnan finished with 22 points and 4 steals in a win over UMass Lowell and then hit 4 three-pointers en route to 20 points vs. Austin Peay - his 3rd straight 20-point game. He currently leads all NEC freshman and ranks 7th on the circuit with 17.8 ppg. He's 5th in three-point accuracy (.467) and 7th in field goal percentage (.574). 
COLEMAN COMES ALIVE • Jamir Coleman scored a career-high 19 points (7-9 fg) against Florida A&M and is now averaging 9.8 points per game. The 6-7 wing is shooting 60 percent from the field and an NEC-leading 66.7 percent from three-point range.
UP NEXT • The Blue Devils will return home following the game to host Pine Manor College on Nov. 25 before going on the road for a pair of contests.
