Men's Golf Tabbed Second in NEC Coaches Poll

Coming off a strong fall season in 2013, the Central Connecticut men's golf team was picked to finish second in the preseason Northeast Conference Coaches Poll on Monday.  The Blue Devils received one first place vote but were voted behind Bryant for the top spot.

Defending NEC champ St. Francis University was picked third, followed by Fairleigh Dickinson in fourth, Robert Morris and Sacred Heart (tied for fifth), then LIU Brooklyn, Wagner and St. Francis Brooklyn.

The Blue Devils capped their 2013 fall season with the NEIGA Championship played at the Captains's Course in Brewster, MA.  Central finished first of 38 teams.  The field also included NEC schools Bryant (3rd) and Wagner (10th).

Junior Monte Mullen claimed individual medalist honors at the NEIGA Championship with a playoff victory and a two-day total of 143 (-1).

Central also finished fifth at the Connecticut Cup and third at the CCSU Fall Invitational last fall.  Both Mullen and freshman Bryant Bolden were named All-New England in the fall.  Bolden finished in a tie for eighth place in the tournament.
