Mullen Fourth, Blue Devils Fifth at Turningstone

Senior Monte Mullen shot day one rounds of 75 and 71 and sits in fourth place as the Central Connecticut men's golf team sits in fifth place of 11 teams after the first two rounds of the Turningstone Tiger Intercollegiate on Sunday afternoon.  The tournament is hosted by the University of Missouri and is played at Turningstone Country Club in New York.

The Blue Devils shot a round one score of 314 to sit in fifth place after the first round of the day.  They improved 15 strokes in the second round, shooting a 299, to total 613 (+37), just one shot back of Villanova for fourth place overall.

Missouri is in first place (585), followed by Cleveland State (590), Detroit (606) and then Villanova (612) and CCSU (613).

Mullen is in fourth place, three strokes behind a trio of individuals who all sit at -1 (143) after the first day of competition.  Mullen shot 75 in the first round and followed it up with a 71 to shoot +2 in his first 36 holes.

Junior Jack Ayers (77-76) is tied for 18th place, while sophomore Bryant Bolden (82-75) is tied for 27th and sophomore Matt Hills (82-77) is tied for 31st.  Sophomore Matthew Mahlke (80-80) is tied for 38th place overall.

The tournament will conclude on Monday.
