Men's Golf Leads by 14 Strokes After Round One of NEC Championships on Friday

The Central Connecticut men's golf team leads by 14 strokes after the first day of the Northeast Conference Championships on Friday afternoon.  The tournament is being held at the LPGA International Hills Course in Daytona Beach, FL and is a par 72. 

LEADERBOARD

The Blue Devils shot a round one score of 291, and lead second place Robert Morris by 14 strokes.  

Central also holds the top three individuals spots after the first round, led by freshmen Nick Piersall (1st, 71 (-1)) and Joe Tucker (2nd, 72(E)).  Senior Anthony Sebastianelli is third after a round of 73 (+1).  Sophomore Arthur Ouimet sits in a tie for eighth place after a first round score of 75 (+3). 

Piersall, Tucker and Sebastianelli all posted three birdies during the first round.  Piersall was _2 after five holes but finished his final 13 holes at three under par to shoot a tournament-best round of 71.  He is the only golfer under par in the field.

Senior Brandon Raine is tied for 32nd after shooting an 82 (+10).

Central leads the field with its score of 291.  Robert Morris is second at 305, followed by Bryant (306), Saint Francis U (308), Fairleigh Dickinson (309), LIU Brooklyn (315), Sacred Heart (316), Wagner (318) and then Saint Francis Brooklyn (328).

The second round will begin on Saturday morning.
