Central Connecticut sophomore forward Eddy Bogle was named the adidas/Northeast Conference Co-Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon. Bogle earned the honor for his performance in the Blue Devils weekend sweep of NEC foes Robert Morris and St. Francis (PA). The Blue Devils finished the weekend with a pair of victories by a combined score of 5-0.
Bogle, who is playing his first season of collegiate soccer with the Blue Devils this year, was responsible for 40 percent of Central's scoring over the weekend. He scored a pair of goals in Central's 3-0 victory over Robert Morris on Friday.
His first goal came in the opening half when he beat his defender and scored off a pass that had been headed by teammate Reece Wilson. He scored his second goal later in that game by grabbing a rebound and chipping it past the goaltender. That goal was the final score in the 3-0 victory over Robert Morris.
The Blue Devils followed that with another shutout victory on Sunday.
Bogle has scored three goals in the last three Central contests. All three games have been Blue Devil victories. Two of Bogle's three goals have proved to be game-winners.
The Blue Devils are currently tied for second place with a 3-1 record in NEC play. Central plays a single game this week traveling to Bryant on Friday for a 3 p.m. match.
