Senior Reece Wilson of the Central Connecticut men's soccer team eanred a place on The Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) 2012 Hermann Trophy Watch List. The 42-man and 38-woman list was announced on Monday.
Wilson was a first-year member of the CCSU men's soccer team that tied for the Northeast Conference regular season championship a year ago. Wilson is one of four NEC athletes recognized on the prestigious list. The Blue Devils posted a record of 10-8-1 (7-3 NEC) and were third in the conference in goals per game with 1.26 scoring 24 total goals in 2011.
The senior led last year's team in goals scored with six, good for a fourth place tie in the individual NEC rankings. Wilson started all 19 games for Central in 2011 tallying 15 points and adding three assists. He earned All-NEC Second Team honors for his play last season.
In intercollegiate soccer, the MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual accolade and is presented annually in January at Missouri Athletic Club banquet in St. Louis. Central is one of 57 NCAA division one schools in the United States represented on the list.
