The Central Connecticut men's soccer team fell to 1-3 overall on the season with a 2-0 loss on the road against the University of New Hampshire on Sunday afternoon. The game was the second of the weekend for the Blue Devils at the University of Vermont Fall Classic.
The Blue Devils will return to action on Sept. 14 on the road at Belmont University in the Belmont University Invitational. They will also play on the road on Sept. 16 at Belmont against Lipscomb.
New Hampshire took a 1-0 lead in the 41st minute on the game's first goal. Alex Hussein took a free kick from Jordan Thomas at 40:48 to put the Wildcats on the board. The pass came off a free kick.
They stretched the lead to 2-0 in the 61st minute. Angel Maldonado gathered a rebound off a shot from Paul Bianchi and found the back of the net for the two goal lead.
New Hampshire held a 12-10 advantage in total shots, and a 7-4 edge in shots on goal. A pair of goalkeepers combined to make five saves in the loss for CCSU.
Jose Pablo Gamboa and Reece Wilson were each named to the All-Tournament Team following the completion of play on Sunday.
Central plays again on Friday, Sept. 15 at the Belmont University Invitational. They will play Belmont on Friday and then Lipscomb on Sunday in the tournament.
