The Central Connecticut men's soccer team defeated Lipscomb by a score of 3-1 on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils were led by a pair of goals from senior Reece Wilson.
The Blue Devils (2-4) got on the board in the fourth minute of the game on senior Jose Pablo Gamboa's first goal of the season. Gamboa found the back of the net with the help of senior Tom Obasi's corner kick.
Just 12 minutes later the Blue Devils increased their lead to 2-0 on Wilson's first goal of the game. Junior Eddy Bogle assisted on the score.
Lipscomb cut the CCSU lead to 2-1 with a goal in the 66th minute. Deven Bahadoorsingh had the goal for Lipscomb.
Wilson added his second goal of the game in the 81st minute. Sophomore Stephen Walmsley assisted on the score, which solidified the Blue Devil victory.
Senior Anthony Occhialini recorded two saves in goal to earn his second victory of the season. He faced just five shots in the game, three of which were on goal.
A very even match, the Blue Devils held a 9-5 advantage in shots. Lipscomb had four corner kicks compared to one for the Blue Devils, but CCSU was able to capitalize on its attempt.
The Blue Devils will return to action on September 23, when they host Stony Brook at the CCSU Soccer Field.
