Central Connecticut seniors Thomas Obasi and Reece Wilson were both honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Friday. The NSCAA announced its 2012 Men's University Division Scholar All-America First-Team and it included both Obasi and Wilson.
28 total student-athletes make up the 2012 Scholar All-America first, second, and third teams (11 first-team, 11 second-team, and six third-team). Of the 28 student-athletes, Obasi and Wilson are the only two representatives of the Northeast Conference.
Wilson is an accounting major who maintained a GPA of 3.84 to land him a spot on the first-team roster. The reigning NEC Player of the Year led his team in goals (9), assists (6), and points (24) this season. Wilson was also the first player in CCSU history to be named to the COSIDA Capitol One Academic All-American team.
Obasi, also a senior and 2012 NEC First-Teamer, boasted a GPA of 3.66 as a Communications major at CCSU. He recorded seven points this season off of one goal and five assists.
Both Wilson and Obasi were also named to the 2012 Scholar All-North Atlantic First-Team by the NSCAA back on December 10th.
