Head Coach Eric Blake of the Central Connecticut men's and women's track and cross country programs was one of four inductees into the Mt. Washington Road Race Hall of Fame Class of 2015. Blake was inducted with other members of the 6th Annual Mount Washington Road Race Hall of Fame in a ceremony on Saturday afternoon.
Blake was joined by Eleonora Mendonca, Eric Morse and Peter Watson as the members of the 6th Annual Mount Washington Road Race Hall of Fame Inauguration. The Hall of Fame ceremony paid tribute to the achievements of the inductees in a ceremony at the base of the Mt. Washington Auto Road following the 2015 Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race.
The Hall of Fame was formed in 2010 to recognize outstanding performers in and contributors to the Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race held every June. It is an all-uphill race up a 154-year-old, 7.6-mile Auto Road on the face of Mt. Washington to the summit of the highest peak in the northeastern United States.
Blake is a three-time winner of the race, taking the top spot in 2006, 2008, and 2013. He owns the state record for CT (59:57) and NY (61:07) and is one of only eight people to have ever run under sixty minutes. No one has run more times under 1:02 than Blake, who has done so eight times.
