Hunt Named NEC Athlete of the Week

Senior Craig Hunt of the Central Connecticut men's cross country team was named Northeast Conference Athlete of the Week for his impressive performance this week at the Father Bede Invitational hosted by Saint Francis U., the conference announced Tuesday.


In his first race of the season, Hunt emerged victorious in the 8K race as he crossed the finish line first with his time of 26:43 among a field of 94 competitors. Hunt paced the squad, leading four other Blue Devils to top-10 finishes, ultimately leading Central to the win. Hunt finished four seconds ahead of his nearest competitor.

The New Milford, CT native picks up the 2013 cross country season where he left off following a successful 2013 track season. Hunt was named NEC Most Outstanding Track Performer at the 2013 NEC Indoor Track and Field Championships following two individual championships in the 3,000m and the 5,000m. His performance also earned two All-NEC First Team awards.  

Hunt and the rest of the Blue Devils will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the New England Championships at Franklin Park in Boston, MA.
