Field Named NEC Rookie of the Week for Second Time This Season

For the second time this season, freshman Elias Field of the Central Connecticut men's cross country team was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week announced by the league's office Wednesday afternoon.

Field was the first NEC freshman finisher at the 17th Annual Ted Owen Invitational hosted by CCSU in Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT last Saturday. The Woodbury, CT native ran the 8K course in a time of 27:13.2. He was the third Blue Devil to cross the finish line and 17th runner overall in a field of 175 runners.

Junior Roberto Piotto was named to the men's cross country Prime Performers list after a sixth place finish with a time of 26:31.3. The Blue Devils finished in third place against 19 other teams.

The men's cross country team competes next on Saturday, Oct. 12 at the New England Championships in Boston, MA.
