Babe Named Choice Hotels Co-POW

Central Connecticut senior Jaclyn Babe was named Choice Hotels NEC Co-Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon in the Northeast Conference's weekly women's basketball release.  Babe's production led the Blue Devils to a pair of NEC victories that moved CCSU into a four-way tie for second-place in the league standings.

Ericka Norman of Sacred Heart shared the conference's player of the week honors with Babe.

Contributing in a number of ways, Babe averaged 22.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game as the Blue Devils topped Wagner and Mount St. Mary's at Detrick Gym.  Babe shot 56.3 percent from the floor, including a 3-for-7 clip from three-point range and a 6-of-8 performance at the free throw line

She scored 19 points, on 9-for-13 shooting, and six assists in an 82-53 triumph over Wagner on Saturday before putting forth a monster performance on Monday night.

The Pittsburgh native dropped in 26 points and grabbed nine boards during an overtime victory against Mount St. Mary's, which entered the game with a 4-1 NEC record. Babe came through in the clutch, scoring five points in the final 1:57 of the extra session.  She grabbed an offense rebound and converted the put-back for a 72-68 advantage before going 3-of-4 from the free throw line to cement the 77-73 triumph.

Babe surpassed 900 career points in the Mount St. Mary's game and she is now just 77 away from 1,000 for her career.  She has scored 732 points with the Blue Devils and added 191 points over two seasons at Duquesne.

Babe and the Blue Devils will look to continue their four game winning streak on Saturday against St. Francis Brooklyn.
