The Central Connecticut women's basketball team fell to Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon in a Northeast Conference women's basketball game. The Blue Devils (3-13, 3-10 NEC) fell to the Colonials (15-9, 11-2 NEC) by a score of 66-49.
The Blue Devils started the game strong offensively with junior Johnna Fisher coming off the bench to score six first half points. However, CCSU was shutout for the remainder of the period following a fast break layup by Fisher with 6:29 left in the half.
The Colonials used a 12-0 run to take a 30-23 lead into halftime. Robert Morris senior Artemis Spanou scored 12 of her game-high 17 points in the first half. She added a game-high 21 rebounds.
Fisher registered CCSU's first basket of the second half at the 17:33 mark of the period. Snapping a nearly nine-minute stretch without a field goal for the Blue Devils. CCSU's lone point during that span was a made free throw by senior Jessica Babe early in the second half.
The Colonials opened the game up in the second half with 10 points from Cassie Oursler and eight from Ashley Ravelli.
The Blue Devils shot 30.0% (18-60) from the field in the game, 7.7% (1-13) from three and 54.5% (12-22) at the free throw line. Robert Morris connected on 43.1%, 35.3% from three-point range, and 58.8% at the free throw line.
The Colonials held a 55-30 advantage on the boards.
The Blue Devils return to action on Monday night at Saint Francis U. That game will tip-off at 7 p.m. from the DeGol Arena in Loretto, PA.
