Blue Devils Look to Earn Tournament Berth Monday

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team welcomes the Fairleigh Dickinson Knights on Monday, March 4 at 7 p.m. to Detrick Gymnasium in New Britain, CT. The Blue Devils look to earn the final spot in the Northeast Conference Tournament with a win over the Knights. Central is coming off a 72-59 win over LIU Brooklyn breaking the three-way tie between Central, LIU, and FDU. Senior Kiana Patterson led CCSU with 23 points and sophomore Ashley Berube was one rebound short of a double-double with 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Knights recently dropped a 62-57 decision at Mount St. Mary's on Saturday. Senior Madelynn Comly scored her 1,000th career point and finished the game with a team-high 20 points. FDU is still fighting for the eighth and final spot in post season play.

Series History • The game marks the 43rd meeting between the Blue Devils and Knights. Central holds a 25-17 advantage in the overall series and has won 8 out of the last 11 games against FDU. Central fell to FDU 74-67 on Jan. 12. Trailing by 11 to start the fourth quarter, senior Andi Lydon tied the game at 66 with 2:58 to play, but impressive free throw shooting by the Knights allowed them to pull out the win. Four Blue Devils scored double-figures in the first matchup. 
 
With a Win... • The Blue Devils improve to 8-19 on the season and 5-12 in conference...CCSU earns a season split with FDU...Central becomes the eighth and final team in the NEC post season tournament.
