Women's Hoops Take On Merrimack Saturday

The Central Connecticut women's basketball team takes on the Warriors of Merrimack on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 1 p.m. for its final road game. The game will be streamed live on NEC Front Row. The Blue Devils look to snap a seven-game skid and give Merrimack its second straight loss.

Last Time Out • The Blue Devils fell at Wagner, 63-56, on Friday at the Spiro Sports Center. The Blue Devils led by eight at halftime, but the Seahawks shot 50 percent after halftime to rally. Junior Ashley Berube scored a team-high 16 points and junior Emma McCamus added 12 points. 

Most Recent for the Warriors • Merrimack fell to Mount St. Mary's 62-53. Mount led by as much as 19 points in the third quarter. The Warriors cut the lead to seven midway through the fourth, but an 8-0 run by the Mountaineers pushed the lead back to 15. Senior Denia Davis-Steward earned her 22nd double-double of the season after scoring a game-high 21 points and pulling down 11 rebounds.  

Earlier this Season • The Blue Devils opened the game connecting on nine of its first 14 shots (.643) leading by as much as 14 (21-7) in the opening quarter. Momentum shifted to the Warriors as they opened the third quarter with a 12-3 taking a 44-37 lead with 5:57 to play. After missing four shots from behind the arc, the Blue Devils shot a perfect 3-3 from deep in the third. Merrimack took advantage of fouls scoring eight of its 12 fourth quarter points from the foul line to secure the win. Junior Ashley Berube led the Blue Devils with 20 points, five rebounds and three blocks.
