The Central Connecticut women's golf team claimed the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational tournament championship on Tuesday. Central (326/323/325/974) edged Robert Morris (324/322/328/974) in a one-hole sudden death playoff to take home the victory on the final day. Fairfield (327/322/328/977), Wagner (319/329/340/988), Mount St. Mary's (336/346/343/1025), and St. Francis (NY) (375/364/385/1124) rounded out the six team field.
Mount St. Mary's hosted the two-day, 54-hole tournament. The event was held at Quail Valley Golf Club in Littlestown, PA, a par-72 course playing 6,202 yards. Rounds one and two were played on Monday, April 16th and the final round wrapped up on Tuesday, April 17th.
Junior Katie Reid put on her best performance of the spring season placing sixth individually (77/78/88/243). Reid's sixth place finish marks the second time in the 2011-12 season that she has placed in the top-ten.
En route to claiming the tournament championship, freshman Albrianna Farnum drained a crucial par putt in sudden death to seal the victory over Robert Morris. Farnum placed tied for seventh on the individual leader board (81/81/82/244).
After struggling in the first two rounds, junior Anna Ausanio (85/86/76/247) shot the lowest score among all Blue Devils in the final round carding a 76. Her final day efforts helped lead Central to a first place tie with Robert Morris and the eventual tournament victory. The junior finished tied for tenth place.
Junior Stephanie Bednar registered a ninth place final standing on the leader board (83/78/84/245) and sophomore Elisabeth Beloin placed 21st (90/86/83/259). Sophomore Gina Grant competed unattached from Central and placed 27th (89/85/96/270).
