Central Connecticut women's golf coach Carly Ludwig was named Northeast Conference Coach of the Year and senior Anna Ausanio earn a First Team All-Northeast Conference selection for her performance this season. Both honors were announced in the NEC's annual release of postseason awards. The 2013 CCSU women's golf team placed second at the Northeast Confernce Championships behind the strong play of Ausanio who also earned a second place finish as an individual.
During the 2012-13 season, Ausanio led her team in top-ten finishes as well as scoring average. She finished in the top-ten of individual competitors seven times and averaged a round score of 77.8. Her lowest round score came in the third and final round of the 2013 NEC Tournament where she carded a 73 to give her a runner-up finish. She also helped lead her team to a second place finish at the NEC's championship event.
This is the second consecutive season that Ausanio has earned All-NEC honors, last spring she was a Second Team All-NEC selection after a strong junior season that was capped by a fifth place finish at the conference championship. Ausanio also played well at the NEC Tournament as a sophomore in 2011, as she tied for sixth place that season.
A second year head coach, Ludwig takes NEC Coach of the Year honors after guiding her team to a second place finish at the NEC Championships. Ludwig's squad improved five spots in the standings this season after finishing seventh in 2012. The team's stroke score on the LPGA International Course, where the NEC hosts it's championship, dropped from 971 in 2012 to 954 in 2013.
The Blue Devils have also captured the Mount St. Mary's Invitational crown in both 2012 and 2013. Central's second place finish at the 2013 NEC Championship is the program's highest finish at the torunament since 2007 where they also finish second.
