Central Connecticut head women's golf coach Carly Ludwig has announced the addition of Tara Whelan for the Fall of 2014. Whelan recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play collegiate golf with the Blue Devils.
"Tara is a solid player with a great deal of experience playing team golf in Ireland. I am very excited to have her join the Blue Devil program this fall," Ludwig said on Friday afternoon.
Whelan is a native of Ireland, specifically the village of Clonlara in the County Claire.
Whelan attended Villiers secondary school and plays for the East Clare Golf Club. She currently holds the women's course record at East Claire, an even par round of 72 strokes.
An experienced team player, Whelan was selected to the Munster Girls team in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013. In 2012, she helped Munster to the Girls Interprovincial Title for the first time in 20 years, while also winning All-Ireland's.
Individually, Whelan won the 2013 East Leinster Girls Plate and qualified in the top-15 of the Irish Girls Close Championship.
