Women's Lacrosse Falls 16-6 at Niagara on Saturday

The Central Connecticut women's lacrosse team dropped to 1-2 overall on the season with a 16-6 road loss at Niagara on Saturday.  Junior Morgan Sinton led the Central offense with a pair of goals in the game.  Senior Jackie Branthover made 11 saves in goal for the visitors.

The Purple Eagles climbed out to a 7-0 lead in the first half, holding the Blue Devils without a goal until the 7:51 mark of the first half.  Sinton stopped the run with her first goal of the game, making it 7-1.  They scored three of the final four goals of the half and cut the lead to 8-3 at the break.  Sinton scored her second, and sophomore Carrisa Brown scored her second of the season.

Branthover stopped nine first half shots for the Blue Devils.

In the second half the Purple Eagles scored three straight to build an 11-3 lead with 27:21 to play.  Goals from freshman Jessica Denike and senior Carson Adelberger cut the Niagara lead to 12-5 with 23:09 left.  

Niagara answered again, and ended the game scoring four of the last five goals to build the 16-6 lead.  Rachel MacCheyne and Caroline Crump each ended the game with five goals for Niagara, who is now 3-0 on the season.  Shea Swartwout added two goals and two assists in the win.
