The Central Connecticut women's soccer team fell at Quinnipiac on Sunday afternoon. The Blue Devils (1-8, 0-2 NEC) allowed just one goal, but the Bobcats (6-2-1, 2-0 NEC) were able to make the goal stand up.
Central posted five shots in the first half compared to just two for the Bobcats, but it was Quinnipiac junior Taylor Healey who found the back of the net in the first half. She scored at the 10:12 mark of the first period.
Junior Allison kelley and freshman Claire Walsh had shots on goal late in the first period, but both were stopped by Quinnipiac goalkeeper Jillian Kelley.
In the second half, shots by junior Kerrianne Welch and senior Erin Egan went wide of the net and the Bobcats were able to hold on for the victory.
Both teams totaled seven shots on the match and CCSU goalkeeper Nikola Deiter posted four saves. Welch led Central on the field with three shots, one on goal and Quinnipiac dominated the game in corner kicks 9-1.
Central returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 26 at Harvard at 7 p.m. followed by a home contest Sunday, Sept. 30, against Bryant at 1 p.m.
