The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team has announced the addition of three swimmers for the Class of 2016. Coaches Bill Ball and Dave Maliar will welcome Alaina Papiro, Selene Chilton and Julie Hansen to the CCSU campus in the fall.
"We are very excited to have signed Alaina, Selene and Julie. All three will add a great deal to our program and our ability to remain a top program in the Northeast Conference," Ball said. "With what we are losing to graduation next year, signing quality student-athletes was a high priority."
Alaina Papiro is a native of Southbury, Connecticut. She attends Pomperaug High School and swims for the Panther Aquatic Club. Papiro competes in the breaststroke and in sprint freestyle events.
Selene Chilton is from Chelmsford, Massachusetts, and Chelmsford High School. She also swims for the Crimson Aquatic Club. Chilton swims the distance freestyle as well as the fly.
Julie Hansen attended Governor Livingston High School in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey. She also competesfor Berkeley Aquatic Club. Hansen's events are the fly and middle-distance freestyle swims.
"These three young women are just what we need," Ball added. "All three come from great programs that have produced great athletes that went on to do great things at the collegiate level. I can't wait till they get on campus."
