Neuhaus Wins 100 Back; CCSU Claims 2nd & 3rd in 200 Free
The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team dropped to fourth after day three of competition at the 2013 Northeast Conference Championships. Junior Helene Neuhaus took gold in the 100 yard backstroke event with a time of 55.86.

Neuhaus out swam Bryant's Casey Ostrander to win the event and was followed by senior Hannah Packer who placed eighth with a time of 58.17.
In the 200 yard freestyle event, senior Taylor Friedmann claimed the silver, touching the wall in 1:49.70. Her time was faster than that of her NEC Championship title times in 2012 and in 2010. Nabbing the gold in the event by the narrow margin of .60 of a second was Bryant's Taylor DeBever. Friedmann and DeBever have traded championships in the event since 2010.
Senior Allison Rasile finished just behind Friedmann with a time of 1:51.04 for her second bronze medal of the tournament.
In the 400 IM event, Wagner topped the field with a time of 4:23.63. CCSU senior Katie Lang earned fourth, touching the wall 4:30.27. Also in the event for the Blue Devils was senior Lauren O'Kelly who placed sixth with a time of 4:33.25.
Central earned another bronze medal in the 400 medley relay event. The team, consisting of Neuhaus, Friedmann and juniors Kristina Gulia and Kellen Power, completed the event in 3:50.75. They finished behind first-place Saint Francis (PA) and Bryant who took second.
Gulia also claimed fourth for the Blue Devils in the 100 yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:05.28. Freshman Alaina Papiro finished in 1:07.36 for eighth. Saint Francis (PA) took first in the event with a time of 1:03.77.
The Red Flash also claimed gold in the 100 butterfly with a time of 56.11. Central's Power clocked a 57.71 for seventh place.
