The Central Connecticut swimming and diving team and CCSU Blue Devil Swim School has announced it will offer lessons for swimmers ages 3 and up. Open registration will be held on Saturday, April 13, from 9-11 a.m. in the Kaiser Hall Lobby at Central Connecticut State University. The lessons will run on Saturdays and Sundays from May 4 through June 30 for a total of eight lessons.
The CCSU Blue Devil Swim School is coached by CCSU swimming and diving head coach Bill Ball and assistant coach Alex Albert and staff.
The swim school offers lessons for four levels of swimmers and are offered for $85 per swimmer. Each lesson will run for 40 minutes and introduce swimmers to a variety of swim skills and strokes.
Level 1 (Beginners) | Saturdays, 11:00 a.m. – 11: 40 a.m. | REGISTER
Enter the water comfortably; Blow bubbles, nose and mouth; Introduction to back float; Introduction to jumping in the water; Introduction to kicking on the wall and with a kickboard; Introduction to Scooping while held and with a kickboard; Introduction to pushing off the wall with glide and kick
Level 2 (Independent Swimmer) | Saturdays, 12:00 p.m. – 12:40 p.m. | REGISTER
Push off the wall with glide and kick; Back Float; Introduction to front crawl; Introduction to side breathing; Introduction to backstroke; Introduction to breaststroke kick and arms individually; Bob up and down in and under water
Level 3 (Stroke Development) | Sundays, 11:00 a.m. – 11: 40 a.m. | REGISTER
Front crawl side-breathing basics; Backstroke basics; Deep water prep; Swim underwater bobbing for rings; Breaststroke basics; Introduction to butterfly
Level 4 (Swim Team Prep) | Sundays, 12:00 p.m. – 12:40 p.m. | REGISTER
Refining of all strokes in preparation to swim on a team; Turns for each stroke; Racing starts
