Kilian Named NEC Rookie of the Week

Freshman McKenna Kilian of the Central Connecticut women's indoor track and field team was tabbed the NEC Women's Rookie Athlete of the Week after recording a fourth place finish this past Friday in the pentathlon at the Elm City Challenge hosted by Southern Connecticut in New Haven, CT, it was announced in a release by the NEC front office on Tuesday afternoon.

Kilian eclipsed the 3,000-point mark in the pentathlon during her first-ever collegiate competition. Working her way toward a fourth-place overall finish at Southern Connecticut State's Elm City Challenge, the first-year Blue Devil totaled 3,019 points to finish second amongst NEC pentathletes contesting the meet. Kilian produced marks that rank her amongst the conference's top-eight leaders in three separate events. Her high jump and long jump performances are both good enough for seventh place on the early-season NEC leader board while her 800 meter time is eighth-best.

Kilian and the rest of the CCSU women's indoor track and field team will return to action next in the new year on Jan. 9 at the Yale Collegiate Invite at Coxe Cage in New Haven, CT.
