Volleyball Set for CCSU Invitational
The Central Connecticut volleyball team will host the CCSU Invitational sponsored by Sodexo this weekend.
The Central Connecticut volleyball team will host the CCSU Invitational this weekend. The tournament field will feature St. John's, Brown, Holy Cross and the host Blue Devils.
The Blue Devils (2-2) have won two straight matches heading into the tournament after posting wins against Saint Francis (PA) and Hartford. Senior Emily Cochran leads the Blue Devils this season with 43 kills. She is followed by senior Blaike King with 34 and sophomore Rachel Dunlap with 23. Dunlap also leads the squad with 21 total blocks and a .362 hitting percentage. The assists have come from freshmen Makenna Lommori and Ashley Lenington with 83 and 60, respectively.
Here is a look at the rest of the field:
St. John's enters the tournament with a 4-1 record. The Red Storm have won three straight matches, including a 3-0 victory over Siena on Wednesday.
Brown will be opening its 2012 season at the CCSU Invitational. The Bears went 6-17 last season and 2-10 in the Ivy League.
Holy Cross enters the weekend with a record of 0-3 after dropping three games at the Beanpot Classic last weekend.
