The Central Connecticut volleyball team split a pair of matches on the final day of the UNH Holy Young Invitational. The Blue Devils are now 5-5 on the season. All three of the Blue Devils matches at the tournament went to five sets. During the first match of the day senior Emily Cochran passed the 1,000 dig mark for her career.
Following the tournament Cochran and senior Jamie Rademacher were named to the All-Tournament Team for their performance in the three matches at the Holly Young Invitational.
CCSU vs. UNH
The Central Connecticut volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision at New Hampshire on Saturday afternoon in its first match of the day.
With the loss the Blue Devils fall to 4-5 overall on the season. The Blue Devils won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-23, before dropping the final three in the match. New Hampshire rebounded to win 25-19, 25-22 and claimed the final set 21-19 to earn the victory.
Senior Emily Cochran reached 1,000 career digs in the match, posting 16 in the loss. She also led the offense with 22 kills. Classmates Jamie Rademacher added 16 kills and Blaike King had 12.
Freshman Makenna Lommori had 47 assists in the match.
CCSU vs. Holy Cross
The Central Connecticut volleyball team topped Holy Cross in five sets on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils fell behind 2-1, but rebounded to win the match. CCSU improves to 5-5 on the season with the victory, Holy Cross falls to 0-9.
The Blue Devils won the opening set, 25-18, but dropped the second, 26-24, and the third, 25-21. CCSU responded with a 25-12 victory in the fourth set and a 15-5 victory in the fifth.
Cochran led the offense with 17 kills in the match. She also had 10 digs. Radmacher continued her solid play by connecting for a .364 hitting percentage.
Lommori continued her solid play with 43 assists and seven kills in the match.
King and Rademacher again reached double-digit kills with 13 and 11, respectively.
Defensively, Rademacher and Lommori each contributed to five blocks.
The Blue Devils return to action next Friday at the Temple Invitational.
