Volleyball Sweeps Robert Morris, 3-0

The Central Connecticut volleyball team earned a three set victory over Robert Morris on Saturday afternoon.  The Blue Devils (12-7, 3-2 NEC) captured the sets 25-22, 25-14 and 25-22 from the Colonials (3-17, 2-3 NEC).

The Blue Devils trailed 22-18 late in the third set, but rebounded and rolled off seven straight points to take the game and the match.

Junior Rachel Dunlap led the CCSU defense at the net with an exceptional 10 block assists.  She was joined at the net by senior Veronika Ban (6), sophomore Makenna Lommori (4), freshman Brooke Schwab (2), sophomore Heather Trueman (1) and freshman Cassidy Stankowski (1).

Trueman led the CCSU offense with 15 kills.  She posted a .500 hitting percentage with 15 kills on 28 attacks and just one attack error.

Stankowski was exceptional in reception defense with 12 digs, a team-high.  Lommori was second with seven digs.

Lommori also led the team with 34 assists.

The victory gives CCSU a three match winning streak and a perfect 6-0 mark at home this season.

The Blue Devils will play Saint Francis U on Sunday at Detrick Gym.  The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. and is CCSU's "Dig Pink Match" this season.
