Central Connecticut volleyball's Veronika Ban and Rachel Dunlap were honored by the Northeast Conference on Monday afternoon. Both players were key contributors to a pair of Northeast Conference victories last weekend.
Ban, a senior from Newbury Park, CA, earns Molten/Northeast Conference Player of the Week honors after an exceptional two match stretch in which she posted 20 kills and a .515 hitting percentage over seven sets. She had just three hitting errors in 33 total attacks.
On defense, she had 12 total blocks, with six block assists in each of the matches. Ban also had five digs on the weekend.
Against Robert Morris on Saturday, Ban posted eight kills and a .583 hitting percentage. She also had six block assists and three digs. On Sunday, Ban recorded 12 kills and a .476 hitting percentage, posting six block assists with a pair of digs. Ban averaged 2.86 kills, 1.71 blocks and 0.71 digs per set over the weekend.
Dunlap, a junior from Sonora, CA, had an outstanding weekend at the net with 19 total blocks over CCSU's two NEC victories to earn Molten/NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors. The three-time NEC Defensive Player of the Week posted 10 block assists in a 3-0 win over Robert Morris on Saturday and then recorded nine block assists as the Blue Devils downed Saint Francis U by a 3-1 margin on Sunday.
The Blue Devils played seven sets over the two matches giving Dunlap an incredible 2.71 blocks per set average, the highest of any NEC blocker over the weekend. The performance boosted her season average to 1.34 blocks per set, highest in the NEC.
Dunlap also contributed on offense with 11 kills and a .435 hitting percentage.
The Blue Devils are currently riding a four match winning streak and have maintained a perfect 7-0 record at home this season.
