Central Connecticut women's cross country runner Megan Brawner was named the Northeast Conference Athlete of the week, announced by the league office Thursday afternoon. The junior runner led the Blue Devils at the Marist College Invitational last weekend.
The Gales Ferry, CT native was the first of the Blue Devil runners to finish the women's 5K. Brawner finished sixth overall with a time of 18:55.4 in a field of 46 athletes with runners from Marist, Siena, Manahattan, and Iona. Following Brawner was the 2018 NEC Rookie of the Year Ashley Dana who completed the course in 19:37.9 in 16th place.
Brawner and the women's cross country team compete next on Saturday, Sept. 28 when it hosts the CCSU Ted Owen Invitational in Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT.
