      <title>CCSU's Annual Blue-White Spring Game Ends in 31-31 Tie, Dorsey Named MVP</title>

      <description>The Central Connecticut football team played its annual Blue-White Scrimmage on Friday afternoon.  The game ended in a 31-31 tie.  Junior Marcus Dorsey earned MVP honors after intercepting two passes and recovering a fumble.  All three plays led to points.  Dorsey became the first defensive player to win the award under head coach Jeff McInerney.  Junior quarterback Hunter Wanket and sophomore running back Kevin Woolfolk led the offenses.  Wanket went 17-of-25 for 204 yards and a touchdown through the air.  He also had a 49-yard touchdown run.  Woolfolk, meanwhile, had a two-yard touchdown run set-up by a 55-yard scamper.  CCSU, which has three more practices scheduled, will end its spring season on May 1.</description>

      <title>Central Connecticut Football Releases Full Spring Schedule; Open Mac Included</title>

      <description>Central Connecticut released its full spring football schedule this afternoon.  The Blue Devils will begin their spring season on Friday, Apr. 3 and end on Friday, May 1.  The annual Blue-White Game has been moved from May 1 to Friday, Apr. 24 to coincide with the date of the CCSU Athletics Alumni Hall of Fame ceremony.  This has been the tradition during head coach Jeff McInerney's tenure.  Festivities will still begin at 2 p.m. on Arute Field.</description>

McInerney and his staff will welcome a group of 12 players to the 2009 Blue Devils, 10 of whom signed National Letters of Intent to attend Central Connecticut starting in the fall.  The remaining two players have enrolled at CCSU for the spring semester and will participate in spring practice.  Central Connecticut finished 7-4 overall last season and 4-3 in Northeast Conference play.</description>

Junior Ray Saunders and sophomore Alondre Rush were both named first team honorees, while senior captain Mike Cooke, senior Ernie Greywacz, junior James Mallory and sophomore Dominique Rose all represented the Blue Devils on the second team.  Greywacz, a first team selection last season, was the only repeat pick.  Central Connecticut finished the season at 7-4, including 4-3 in NEC play.</description>

Mallory went over the 1,500-yard mark on the season, finishing his junior campaign with 1,520 yards.  Senior Josh Vargas and sophomore Eric Richardson each added two rushing touchdowns for the Blue Devils, who totaled a season-best 337 yards on the ground.  Sophomore Jeff Marino and junior Ray Saunders led the CCSU defense.  Both had eight tackles, including a sack apiece.  Marino added one of three Blue Devil interceptions, and Saunders forced two fumbles.</description>

Sophomore Dominique Rose had two of five Blue Devil interceptions, including one he ran back 85 yards for a touchdown. Senior Ernie Greywacz, meanwhile, had a 21-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown in his final game on Arute Field.  The shutout was Central Connecticut's first since a 12-0 home victory over St. Francis (PA) on Oct. 10, 1998.  The win also assured CCSU of its fifth straight winning season.</description>

He carried the ball for 49 yards.  Sophomore Jeff Marino led the CCSU defense with 12 tackles, including 3.5 for loss.  One of those was a sack.</description>

He is the seventh player in team history to post a 1,000-yard rushing season.  Mallory also had three touchdowns for the second straight week.  Junior Ray Saunders led the Blue Devil defense with five tackles, including 1.5 for loss.</description>

      <title>Blue Devils Run Over Duquesne in 35-23 Homecoming Win</title>

      <description>Central Connecticut (5-2, 2-1) totaled 286 yards on the ground in a 35-23 homecoming win over Duquesne (2-4, 1-3).  Junior James Mallory went over 100 yards for the sixth time in seven games, posting 126 yards on a career-high 37 carries.  The Buffalo, NY native also scored a career-best three touchdowns.  Junior quarterbacks Aubrey Norris and Hunter Wanket combined for 129 more yards on the ground.  Norris hit the 1,000-yard mark for his career with 53 yards, while Wanket ran for 76 yards.  A 72-yard fourth quarter touchdown run highlighted Wanket's performance.  Senior Ernie Greywacz and sophomore Dominique Rose led the Blue Devil defense with seven tackles each.  Rose added a fumble recovery.</description>

      <title>Wanket Leads Blue Devil Rally at Albany, CCSU Falls Short in 24-22 Loss</title>

      <description>Central Connecticut (4-2, 1-1) fell a two-point conversion short of completing a second half comeback and forcing overtime in a 24-22 loss at Albany (3-3, 2-0) in Northeast Conference play.  Junior quarterback Hunter Wanket looked for classmate Nick Colagiovanni in the back of the end zone on the two-point try following a 14-yard touchdown pass to junior Tyler Rossnagle, but his attempt fell short.  Wanket finished the game 16-of-24 for a career-high 198 yards and a touchdown, while junior James Mallory rushed for 109 yards on 26 carries.  It was the fifth 100-yard rushing performance for the nation's fifth leading ball carrier.  Colagiovanni led CCSU with five catches for 71 yards.  On the other side of the ball, senior captain Mike Cooke had 11 tackles, including one sack and 3.5 for loss.  He also posted a pass break-up.</description>

      <title>Balanced Attack Leads Blue Devils to 35-10 Northeast Conference Win over Wagner</title>

      <description>Central Connecticut (4-1, 1-0) won its Northeast Conference opener, defeating Wagner (2-3, 0-1) 35-10 on Arute Field in New Britain.  Junior quarterbacks Aubrey Norris and Hunter Wanket combined to go 8-of-12 for 171 yards passing and three touchdowns to lead the CCSU offense.  Paced by junior James Mallory, the Blue Devils gained 243 yards on the ground.  Mallory had 75 yards, while senior captain Josh Vargas and classmate Jermaine Roberts each rushed for scores.  With a 69-yard reception for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, junior Nick Colagiovanni became 11th player in CCSU history to reach 1,000 career receiving yards.  Sophomore Alondre Rush had a game-high 10 tackles for the Blue Devils.  Senior Ernie Greywacz added a sack and an interception for the Central Connecticut defense.</description>

      <description>Junior running back James Mallory rushed for 123 yards on a career-high 36 carries as the Central Connecticut football team ended a nine-game home winning streak for Delaware State on Saturday night with a 28-10 victory on the road.  The Blue Devils, now 3-1 on the season, rushed for 262 yards and held the ball for over 40 minutes in the victory.  CCSU returns to action on Saturday, October 4 at 1 p.m. at home vs. Wagner.</description>

      <description>Central Connecticut junior James Mallory was named the Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Week following his performance in a 35-23 Blue Devil victory over North Carolina Central in The NAACP Harmony Classic  on Saturday.  Entering the weekend as the nation's leading rusher, Mallory had 169 yards and a touchdown on 28 carries.  He also caught two passes for 41, totaling a game-high 210 all-purpose yards.  He accounted for more than half of CCSU's 399 yards of total offense.</description>

      <description>Playing in front of a record Northeast Conference home crowd of 8,322 people, Central Connecticut (2-1) defeated North Carolina Central (0-4), 35-23, to win the inaugural NAACP Harmony Classic at Veterans Memorial Stadium in New Britain's Willow Brook Park.  Junior James Mallory, who entered the week as the nation's leading rusher, ran for 169 yards and a touchdown, while classmate Nick Colagiovanni caught two touchdowns from Aubrey Norris, another junior, to lead the Blue Devil offense.  CCSU totaled 399 yards of total offense, including 212 on the ground.  Sophomore Jeff Marino led the defense with 12 tackles and an interception.  In its first game off campus since the 2000 season, Central Connecticut broke former NEC member Stony Brook's record home crowd of 8,136 in 2002.  Both CCSU's marching band and North Carolina Central's nationally recognized Marching Sound Machine entertained the crowd at halftime and post game.</description>

Junior James Mallory had carries of 21 and 36 yards and totaled 116 yards on 17 attempts to lead the Central Connecticut rushing attack.  The Blue Devils are off next weekend.  They will resume play on Saturday, Sept. 20, when North Carolina Central will come to New Britain for The NAACP Harmony Classic. The Blue Devils will host North Carolina Central University on Saturday, September 20th at Willow Brook Park in downtown New Britain, CT, beginning at 1 p.m.  Fans can now purchase their tickets ahead of time by calling the CCSU ticket office at (860) 832-BLUE.  Please leave a message on the office's voicemail and we will return your call ASAP to fill your order.  Fans who are pre-ordering tickets will need to do so with a credit card to hold your tickets.  Tickets for the event are $12 or $10 for groups of 50 or more.</description>
