Softball Travels for Four NEC Games
The Blue Devils look to keep their record-breaking 12-win streak (10-0 NEC) alive against Mount St. Mary's on Saturday and Monmouth on Sunday.
The Central Connecticut softball team looks to continue its undefeated Northeast Conference streak this weekend in back-to-back doubleheaders against Mount St. Mary's and Monmouth. The Blue Devils will play the Mountaineers (10-24, 2-8 NEC) beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday and the Hawks (21-12, 8-4 NEC) at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
CCSU is currently riding a record-breaking 12-win streak headed into this weekend's NEC match-ups. Sophomore pitcher Laura Messina is undefeated in the conference and has broken the CCSU career shutout and strikeout records. She posts seven shutouts and 125 strikeouts this season. Messina is currently ranked ninth in the nation in shutouts.
Last season, the Blue Devils split with both teams, dropping the first game against the Mountaineers 3-1 before topping them in the second 9-2. In the series with the Hawks, CCSU won the first contest 8-5 before falling 11-6 in the second.
