Gunnar Jespersen Awarded New England Football Writers Gold Helmet Award on Wednesday
Central Connecticut junior quarterback Gunnar Jespersen earned his first major award in a Blue Devil uniform on Wednesday . At a luncheon at Harvard University Jespersen was honored as the New England Football Writer's FCS Gold Helmet Award Winner, becoming just the fourth CCSU player to ever receive the award (Stan House, Cory Harge and Justise Hairston). The award is presented to the top FCS performer in New England each week at the group's weekly luncheon.

on Wednesday . At a luncheon at Harvard University Jespersen was
honored as the New England Football Writer's FCS Gold Helmet Award
Winner, becoming just the fourth CCSU player to ever receive the

presented to the top FCS performer in New England each week at the
group's weekly luncheon.
Jespersen led the Blue Devils to a 45-14 home victory over Bentley
last Saturday, the 10th straight home win for the Blue Devils.
Since 2004 Central is 27-3 at home. In their previous 30 home
games the Blue Devils were just 15-15.
Jespersen completed 18-of-24 passes for 181 yards and a pair of
touchdowns in the victory, without throwing an interception. He
also rushed eight times for 41 yards as the Blue Devils scored 38
straight points after falling behind 14-7.
The Blue Devils are now 1-1 overall on the season following the
home win, and take to the road to face Youngstown State on Saturday
night at 6 p.m. The game is the final non-conference game of the
season for CCSU. They open Northeast Conference action at home
against Bryant on Sept. 25 at noon.
