Grudzwick Competes in 800 Meter Race at NCAA East Preliminary
Richard Grudzwick was named the 2019 NEC Outdoor Track & Field 800 meter champion on May 5.
Junior Richard Grudzwick of the Central Connecticut men's track and field team ran in the 800 meter race on Thursday night at the NCAA East Preliminary in Jacksonville, FL at the University of North Florida. Grudzwick turned in a time of 1:52.55.
Grudzwick placed 44th in the field of 47 runners. Alek Sauer of Colombia won the race in a time of 1:49.03.
Grudzwick caps off a successful season in which he posted a new school record for the 800 meter with a time of 1:50.06 earning him the gold at the 2019 Northeast Conference Outdoor Championship. He was named to the All-NEC first team and also placed 55th at the IC4A/ECAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a time of 2:29.37.
