Men's Cross Country Led by Budge at NCAA Northeast Regional
The Central Connecticut men's cross country competed at the NCAA Northeast Region Championships on Friday in Hopkinton, NH. Aidan Budge was the highest finishing Blue Devils runner among a field of 263 individuals and 38 teams.

NOTABLE
- Budge placed 77th overall with a time of 30:55.2. He climbed 19 spots over the final 4K and ran his best split in the final 2K (6:03.1).
- Mark Rodriguez narrowly missed a top-100 place, finishing in 31:10.8 to place 102nd overall.
- Salvatore Masciarelli was just behind with a time oof 31:23.8 to place 116th. Michael Kraszewski placed 177th with a time of 32:09.3.
- The CCSU contingent of runners was rounded out by Mario Oliva (201st, 32:35.2), Steven Ives (213th, 32:53.7) and Joseph Lauria (233rd, 33:17.9).
RACE NOTES
- Fredrick Kipkosgei of Hofstra was the top finishing individual, finishing the 10K course in 29:12.7
- Syracuse had five runners in the top-10 and topped the team standings with a total of 32 points.
- CCSU was one of two NEC squads in the regional. Stonehill placed 28th.
- The top two teams in each regional automatically qualify for the NCAA. The NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee will then choose 14 at-large teams to fill out the 32-team field. Individually, the top four finishers who do not belong to an automatic qualifier or an at-large team automatically advance to the championships. All four finishers have to finish in the top 25 within their region. Altogether, 36 individuals automatically qualify and two are chosen at-large. The two at-large selections are the highest placing individuals at a regional that were not automatic qualifiers.
