Women's Hoop Opens Practice For 2015-16 Campaign
The Central Connecticut women's basketball team officially opened practice for the 2015-16 season on Monday evening inside Detrick Gymnasium. It was the first official team practice for a Blue Devil squad that opens its regular season slate on Friday, Nov. 13 at Vermont.

It was the first official team practice for a Blue Devil squad that opens its regular season slate in 40 days on Friday, Nov. 13 at Vermont. CCSU's home opener is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 17 and will feature the Blue Devils and River Hawks of UMass-Lowell in Detrick Gym at 7 p.m.
The Blue Devils will play four non-conference home games and seven on the road over the first two months of the season. Trips to Penn State (Nov. 22), Maryland (Dec. 5), and Fordham (Dec. 20) highlight part of the non-conference road schedule. New Hampshire (Nov. 29), Massachusetts (Dec. 12), and Dartmouth (Dec. 29) are the three other non-conference home contests for Central. CCSU will also have a full slate of Northeast Conference games come January 2016.

The 2015-16 season marks the ninth for the Blue Devils under head coach Beryl Piper. The Central Connecticut alumna and 2015 Brenda Reilly NEC Coach of the Year is the winningest women's basketball coach in CCSU's Division I era (112-128) and has led CCSU to double-digit wins in seven straight seasons.
The NEC will unofficially kick off its 2015-16 season with its fourth annual NEC Hoops Social Media Day on Oct. 27 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY. The event will again be broadcasted live, for free, on ESPN3.com and NECFrontRow.com and will feature coaches, players and alumni from around the NEC.
