Round 2 Cancelled, CCSU 3rd at Columbia
Anna Ausanio placed 7th at the Columbia University Roar-EE Invitational.
The Central Connecticut women's golf team placed tied for third in heavy wind and rain conditions at the Columbia University Roar-EE Invitational Friday. Only one round of the tournament was played as the second and final round scheduled for Friday afternoon was cancelled due to inclimate weather.
Columbia University hosted the event which was held at Spook Rock Golf course in Suffern, NY. The par-72 course played 6,008 yards in the single-round tournament.
Boston University (338) finished at the top of the team leader board after today's round, winning the tournament by two strokes over runner up Siena (340). Central (341) and host Columbia (341) finished up knotted for third while LIU-Brooklyn (342) and Pennsylvania (342) tied for fifth and rounded out the field's top-five.
Central Connecticut senior Anna Ausanio (42/40/82) claimed seventh place overall on the individual leader board. Ausanio's seventh place finish gives her four top-ten's so far this season, she leads the team in the category.
Sophomore Albrianna Farnum (40/45/85) placed tied for 13th place overall. In her first round since November 2012, senior Stephanie Bednar (43/43/86) proved consistent on both sides of the course shooting back-to-back 43's.
Senior Katie Reid (45/43/88) finished tied for 27th overall while freshman Sarah Boden (43/47/90) placed tied for 39th.
Up next for the women's golf team will be the Mount St. Mary's Invitational starting on Monday, April 15th and concluding on Tuesday, April, 16th. The two-day, three-round tournament will be hosted at Quail Valley Golf Course in Littlestown, PA.
