Women's Indoor T&F Complete Sorlien Memorial Invitational
The women's indoor track and field team will be back in action next weekend at Boston University for the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday, Jan. 30.
The Central Connecticut women's indoor track and field team completed action at the Sorlien Memorial Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The meet was held at Mackal Field House on the campus of the University of Rhode Island. The Blue Devils were led by senior Elizabeth Eberhardt on the track and senior Ronea Saunders in the field events.

Saunders recorded the best finish of the day for the Blue Devils in any event as she took gold in the high jump. The senior standout cleared 1.70 meters on her first attempt at that height to record the first place finish.
Eberhardt logged the best finish on the track for CCSU with a fourth place in finish in the 1,000 meter run. Eberhardt crossed the line in 3:02.02, less than two seconds off her personal-best time, to earn her fourth place finish.
In the same event, sophomore Brittany Mendelson finished right behind Eberhardt in seventh place. Mendelson ran a new personal-best time in the event with a time of 3:03.44.
Sophomore Sherise Truman had an excellent day on the track for the Blue Devils. In the 200 meter dash finals, Truman finished ninth with a season-best time of 26.19. Truman followed that up with a 13th place finish in the 60 meter dash prelims. The Hartford product completed the race with a time of 8.11, just 10-tenths of a second slower than her personal-best time.
In the 500 meter dash, junior Chantelle Deer ran a season-best time of 1:19.97. The time earned her a seventh place overall finish in the event.
Seniors Shannon McBride and Krisztina Dearborn finished 11th and 12th respectively in the one mile run for CCSU. McBride crossed the finish line with a new personal-best time of 5:17.31 and Dearborn finished right behind her with a time of 5:19.14.
Sophomores Melissa Wolliston and Sarah Hicks competed in the 60 meter hurdles for the Blue Devils. Wolliston qualified for the finals heat with a preliminary time of 9.27, good for a tie for sixth, and finished tied for seventh overall after finishing with a time of 9.39 in the finals heat. Hicks picked up a 12th place finish in the prelims after recording a new personal-best time of 9.53.
The 4x800 relay team of senior Taylor LePage, Eberhardt, Mendelson and junior Ally Gates finished third in the event with a combined time of 9:37.86.
In the throwing events, Central's Chelse Terry led the way for the Blue Devils with an 11th place finish in the shot put and a 12th place finish in the weight throw. Terry threw to a distance of 11.27 meters in the shot put and 13.20 meters in the weight throw.
