Men's Golf Sits in 11th Place After Day One of Connecticut Cup
Sebastianelli leads the way for the Blue Devils after 36 holes
The Central Connecticut men's golf team sits in 11th place after the first 36 holes of The Connecticut Cup played on Monday. The 16-team tournament is being played at Ellington Ridge Country Club in Ellington, CT.
The third and final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The Blue Devils shot 304-302-606 in the first and second rounds, both played on Monday. At 606 the Blue Devils are just one shot back on ninth-place Longwood and Fairfield, and they sit just 11 shots back of the tournament's top six teams.
TCU leads the tournament by 15 strokes after firing rounds of 285-279-564 to shoot -12 as a team. Dartmouth (579), UConn (581), Boston College (588) and Bryant (588) round our the top five teams.
For the Blue Devils sophomore Anthony Sebastianelli shot 76-75 to sit at 151 and in a tie for 35th place overall. Senior Jack Ayers went 76-76 (152) and is tied for 42nd.
Senior Connor Murphy shot 79 and then took five strokes off his score in the second round and shot 74 for a two round score of 153, good for a tie for 47th place. Sophomore Brandon Raine went 73-81 and at 154 is tied for 55th place. Junior Matthew Mahlke shot 79-77 and is tied for 65th place.
The Blue Devils will finish the tournament on Tuesday with an 18-hole third round.
