Softball Falls In Regular Season Finale At LIU, 4-2
Blue Devils Will Open Play In The NEC Championship Tournament On May 8th
The Central Connecticut State softball team wrapped up its 2025 regular season schedule on Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 loss at LIU. With the defeat, the Blue Devils head into the 2025 Northeast Conference Championship Tournament at 19-28 overall and finish with a 13-8 conference mark. LIU is now 24-20 overall and wraps up first place in the NEC regular season standings at 16-5.

KEY MOMENTS FROM SUNDAY AT LIU:
- The host Sharks got on the board quickly on Sunday scoring two runs in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 advantage.
- Grace Lawton cut CCSU's deficit to 2-1 when she started the Blue Devils' second inning with her second long ball of the season.
- LIU added two runs in the bottom of the third to up its lead to 4-1.
- Lawton drove in her second run of the day with a sacrifice fly in the top of the fifth to make the score 4-2 in favor of the hosts, and that score proved to be the final count on the day.
- CCSU had a total of six hits as a team on Sunday led by two hits apiece from Ashlyn Desaulniers and Grace Lawton.
- Alina Varga (6-14) took the loss in the pitching circle for Central on Sunday, as she worked a complete game, allowing four runs on four hits with four walks and three strikeouts.
