Blue Devils Host Morgan State On Saturday At 1:00 P.M.
CCSU Is Looking For Back-To-Back Home Wins
The Central Connecticut State women's basketball team (1-9) will look to get back in the win column on Saturday afternoon when the Bears of Morgan State University (4-7) come to Detrick Gymnasium. Central comes into Saturday's action off a pair of losses in the state of Ohio falling to Cincinnati on Tuesday, 78-49, and dropping a 65-38 decision at Dayton on Sunday. CCSU captured its last home game on the day after Thanksgiving when the Blue Devils defeated the University of Bridgeport, 66-25.

The Bears lead the all-time series between the two schools, 2-1. Morgan State picked up a tight 68-65 win last season when the two teams met in Baltimore. CCSU's win in the series came during the 2018-19 season when Central earned a 60-36 road victory.
A LOOK BACK AT THE CINCINNATI GAME ...
• Graduate student Meghan Kenefick scored 15 points, two off her career high set at UMass earlier this season, and grabbed six rebounds plus freshman Jessica Farrell notched a career-best 10 points on Tuesday, but it was not enough, as the Blue Devils wrapped up a tough, two-game road trip to the State of Ohio with a 78-49 non-conference loss at Big 12 member, the University of Cincinnati. Amaya Williams just missed giving CCSU a trio of double-digit scorers on Tuesday, as she finished with nine points against the Bearcats.
• Central missed only one free throw on Tuesday going 9-of-10 from the foul line, but Cincinnati had a huge advantage from the charity stripe going 31-of-38 from the line.
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION ...
• The Morgan State University Bears are members of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) and come into play on Saturday with a 4-7 overall record following a 79-57 loss at Sacred Heart on Thursday evening. The Bears enter their two-game Connecticut road trip finale on a four-game losing skid after the loss at SHU. The team's last victory was an 85-45 triumph over Washington Adventist University on November 20.
• Junior Ja'la Bannerman, who had 17 points on Thursday night, leads Morgan State in scoring averaging 11.6 points per game.
• Classmate Jael Butler, who chipped in 16 points at Sacred Heart, is averaging 9.7 points per game.
• Senior Lalia Fair is the Bears' top rebounder grabbing an average of 8.5 boards per contest.
• As a team, Morgan State is averaging 59.5 points and 36.6 rebounds per outing, and they are allowing the opposition 66.8 points per game plus opponents are pulling down an average of 38.1 rebounds per game.
• The Bears are led by ninth-year head coach Ed Davis, Jr., who earlier this season picked up his 100th career win. Last season, Morgan State posted an 8-22 overall mark and a 3-11 conference record.

• CCSU's number two ranking in the Preseason Northeast Conference Coaches' Poll is the highest ranking in program history.
• Graduate student Meghan Kenefick leads CCSU in scoring through ten games averaging 10.5 points per contest, and she is also second on the squad in rebounding pulling down an average of 5.0 boards per outing. Meghan enters Saturday's play with a career total of 480 rebounds, just 20 shy of 500.
• Freshman Dagny Slomack is second on the squad in scoring heading into the Morgan State game averaging 9.6 points per contest.
• Classmate Selina Monestime is next in scoring averaging at 9.0 points per game, and she is grabbing an average of 4.8 rebounds per game; which is third on the squad.
• Junior Alonna Sellers leads CCSU on the boards so far in 2024-25 averaging 6.4 rebounds per game. Sellers is also averaging 8.1 points per outing.
• Six student-athletes have seen action in all 10 of Central's games so far this year with senior Amaya Williams being the only Blue Devils to start every game. Amaya also is shooting an impressive 92.3 percent from the free throw line so far this year, as she has knocked down 12-of-13 shots from the charity stripe.
• As a team, the Blue Devils are averaging 53.7 points per game and allowing the opposition to score an average of 70.1 points per outing. On the glass, Central is pulling down an average of 33.3 rebounds per game; while the opposition is averaging 40.7 rebounds per contest.

• After over a week off from game action, Central will return to the court on Monday, December 16 when Dartmouth comes to New Britain for CCSU's final home game of the 2024 calendar year. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m. in Detrick Gymnasium. Morgan State opens play in the Puerto Rico Classic on Wednesday, December 18 when the Bears take on Presbyterian at 10:30 a.m.
