Women's Track and Field Goes for Multiple Wins at Blue Devil Invite
Central Connecticut State women's track and field took care of business on their home turf Saturday, collecting a number of first place finishes at this year's Blue Devil Invite.
KEY TRACK PERFORMANCES
- Kaitlyn Stevens and Maegan Desmarais finished one and two, respectively, in the 3000m steeplechase. Stevens led CCSU with a 11:44.87 time.
- Another pair of Blue Devils finished first and second in the 100m hurdles. De'ja Salahuddin finished first at 17.07, while teammate Emily Fedor was right behind her at 18.98.
- Angie Rafter dusted the competition in the 1500 meter run, finishing in 4:29.16, nearly 30 seconds ahead of second place and nearly another CCSU record broken by Angie. Kayla Cohen was near behind Angie as well to start.
- Ashley Dana finished first in the 800m race with a 2:12.39
- The women's 4x400m relay team, comprised of Magnalen Camara, Adriana Brathwaite, Kamiliah Diaz and Ashley Dana, finished well ahead of the competition, clocking in at 4:12.43.
- Brooke Morabito finished second in the 3000m run at 10:07.54. Julia Cancellieri and Rebecca Carusone finished fifth and sixth behind Morabito.
- Camara finished third in the 200m dash at 25.35.
- Salahuddin also earned a second place notch in the 100m dash, finishing in 14.09.
- Kamilah Diaz finished third in the 400m dash at 1:02.83.
KEY FIELD PERFORMANCES
- Aaliyah Walker grabbed a second place finish in the triple jump with a 10.55m attempt. Walker then placed third in the long jump at 5.02m.
- Alissa Hurd grabbed the bronze in the high jump, reaching for a 1.60m jam.
- Sarah Ovesny finished fourth in the hammer throw with a 31.10m throw. She went on to place fifth in the shot put at 11.07m and placed sixth in the javelin throw with a 25.19m toss.

The Blue Devils will be competing for a Northeast Conference Championship next time they are on the track, competing for the title this upcoming weekend.
