White Tops Blue, 14-7, in Annual Spring Game
Blue Devils will open the season on Sept. 4 hosting Lehigh on Friday night
The White Team scored the final two touchdowns of the game to top the Blue Team 14-7 in the Annual Blue-White Spring Game at CCSU on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Devils completed their spring practice on Saturday under second-year head coach Pete Rossomando. In front of roughly 1,000 fans the Blue Devils ended their spring season on Arute Field.
COACH ROSSOMANDO POST-GAME
Freshman quarterback Jacob Dolegala led the white offense finishing the game 10-of-17 for 159 yards and a touchdown. Running back Kyle Jordan had 19 carries for 81 yards and a score.
The Blue Devils began the scoring when freshman quarterback Tom Balacki hit classmate Kyle Reed from 16-yards out in the second quarter to give the Blue Team the 7-0 lead.
Jordan highlighted a drive for the White Team that tied the score 7-7. He broke off a 52-yard run late in the quarter and then ran it into the end zone from one-yard out to tie the game. Jordan's 52-yard run was the longest play of the day for either team.
After a scoreless third quarter Dolegala hit tight end Brennden Cullen from 28-yards out in the fourth quarter to push the lead to 14-7 and complete the scoring. Cullen ended the game with four catches for 82 yards and the touchdown.
The White Team defense was led by junior Joel Maddock who had three sacks and a pass break-up in the win.
The Blue Team offense was led by Balacki who finished the game 8-for-13 for 104 yards and a score. Junior wide receiver Willie Quarles had three catches for 88 yards in the loss.
