The Central Connecticut men's and women's cross country teams will compete in their first home meet of the 2012 season, the 10th Annual Ted Owens Cross Country Invitational, at Stanley Quarter Park in New Britain, CT this Saturday, Sept. 22. The women's 5K will begin at 11 a.m. followed by the men's 8K at 11:30.
Bentley, the University of Connecticut, Fairleigh Dickinson, Franklin Pierce, Hartford, Marist, Northeastern, the University of Rhode Island, Southern Connecticut and Wagner will also be competing in the race totaling 11 teams for the event.
Preceding the meet will be the Ray Crothers Two Mile Cross Country Race beginning at 9:00 a.m. The race will consist of CCSU alumni and will be open for recreational runners. Sign up is free to anyone who would like to participate. The timeline for the day is as follows:
9:00 a.m. – Ray Crothers Two Mile Cross Country Race
10:00 a.m. – Ray Crothers Scholarship Award
10:30 a.m. – 2011 Northeast Conference Champions Ring Ceremony
11:00 a.m. – Women's 5K begins
11:30 a.m. – Men's 8K begins
The north side entrance to the park will be closed, therefore, admission will be through the south entrance on Eddy Glover Blvd. Results will be posted following the conclusion of both races on CCSUBlueDevils.com. Click here to view a map of the course.
