Football Travels To Wagner For Saturday Matinee
CCSU heads to Staten Island in search of a sixth consecutive win in the series
The Central Connecticut State football team travels to Staten Island, NY for a Saturday matinee with Northeast Conference foe Wagner, October 21. The game concludes a short two-game road swing for the Blue Devils.

CCSU and Wagner are meeting for the 35th time in the history of the football programs, with the Blue Devils holding an 18-16 advantage in the series. CCSU has won the last five meetings betwen the two teams. The last Wagner win was on Arute Field, 25-21 in 2016. The last time the two teams played in Staten Island, 2021, the Blue Devils earned a 21-19 victory. The series also boasts the longest game in program history, a 51-45 CCSU win at Wagner, in quadruple overtime, in 2017.

- Jack Barnum earned his second NEC Special Teams Player of the Week award on Monday, following a 2-2 field goal and 2-2 PAT effort at Duquesne
- The CCSU offensive line has allowed just one sacks per game this season, 15 in the FCS and first in the NEC. The probable starting five on the offensive line (Jonathan Kuhler, Isaiah DeLoatch, Jordin Martell, Mason Schloop, and Reis Spicer), have combined to play in 197 career games. - The Blue Devils have four players in the top-14 in sacks per game in the NEC. Dan Toatley leads the way at 0.58 per game, while Malachi Wright tied for second at 0.50 per game. Ahmad Craig and Jayden Anderson are tied for 8th in the NEC at 0.33 sacks per game. CCSU is 39th in the FCS as a team with 2.17 sacks per game
- CCSU has scored 91 percent, 20-22, of its visit to the red zone this season
- Matt Jenner made his first CCSU start at Kent State on September 16th and has now started the last two games under center. He was 15-26 passing on Saturday, for 127 yards, including a touchdown pass. Jenner also recorded a 17-yard TD run of his own. He is 26-53 for 242 yards passing and three touchdowns on the year, while rushing the ball 18 times for 51 yards.
- CCSU is third in the league in rush defense, allowing 177.8 yards per game, while Wagner is eighth in rushing offense at 104.3 yards per game.
- CCSU is sixth in the NEC , allowing 33.5 points a game, slightly behind the 31.7 points a game Wagner is allowing. CCSU is -4.3 points per game, while Wagner, who is averaging 12.2 points per game, is -19.5 points per game

- Isiah Williams has 14 catches in the past three games, for 127 yards. He lead the team with 27 catches and 283 yards receiving for the year. He has a pair of touchdown receptions. Williams is also averaging 20.1 yards per KO return, with a long of 46
- Jack Barnum has accounted for 45 points this season, with 9-12 FG's and 18-18 PAT. He is 9-9 from inside of 50-yards on field goals. He is the first Blue Devil kicker since 2006 to connect on two field goals of 40+ yards in a season opener and the only person since at least 2001 to do so in his CCSU debut, hitting from 48 and 45 yards in the win over AIC. Barnum is the third player to have multiple 40+ yard field goals in the program since 2001. Derek Pearson made seven 40+ yard field goals from 2002-06, including two in the 2006 season opener. Francis Cole made four of 40+ in 2018-19, including a program-record 50 yarder against Lafayette in 2018. Barnum is 303 from 40+ yards this season
