Jenner Named NEC Scholar Athlete Of The Year
Quarterback finished his undergraduate career with a 4.0.
Central Connecticut State football player Matt Jenner has been tabbed as one of eight student-athletes honored by the Northeast Conference with Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors it was announced Tuesday. All eight honors graduated with perfect 4.0 GPA.
Jenner is the fourth Blue Devil, and second football player, to earn the accolade. Mason Schloop, of the football team, was the first male Blue Devil to earn the award, being recognized in 2022. Volleyball player Natalie Novak also took home Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors that season. Nicole Dean was the first CCSU student-athlete to earn the honor, being recognized in 2017.
Jenner was one of two male student-athletes recognized, both football players. He played in nine games for the Blue Devils in 2023, completing 54.8 percent of his passes for 1,009 yards. He threw nine touchdown passes during the campaign and finished with a 113.4 efficiency rating.
In its 18th year, the NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, which is sponsored by the league's Faculty Athletic Representatives, goes to the male and female student-athletes who have graduated after compiling the highest grade point average in the Conference at the conclusion of the academic calenda
