Winkler, Golda Earn NEC Track & Field Weekly Honors
Central Connecticut State thrower Colin Winkler was named the Northeast Conference Field Athlete of the Week and throwing teammate Greyson Golda was named Northeast Conference Rookie f the Weekon Wednesday. They were joined as NEC Prime Performers by Noah Colangelo.
Winkler earned the accolade after winning the javelin event at the UConn Northeast Challenge with a top throw of 69.06m, and recorded the top five throws of any competitor in the event
Golda had a personal-best in discus at the meet, finishing sixth with a 48.77m effort. He also placed fifth and sixth in the hammer throw (54.57m) and seventh in the shot put (15.52m).
Colangelo equaled a personal-best in the 200m, running 21.49, while also running on the 4x400 meter relay that placed third with a season-best time of 3:14.25.
The Blue Devils are back in action when it hosts its Spring Invitational on Friday, April 25. CCSU will also have a group competing at the Penn Relays on Thursday, April 24.
