Hurd Wins High Jump For Women's Indoor Track & Field On Saturday
Blue Devils competed at URI Coaches Invite and the BU Scarlet & White Invitational
The Central Connecticut State women's indoor track and field team competed at two events on Saturday. The Blue Devils were at the Scarlet & White Invitational hosted by Boston University, and the URI Coaches Invitational in Kingston, RI.
The Blue Devils return to action next weekend to defend their Northeast Conference Indoor Championship. The two-day event will once again be held at Ocean Breeze Park in Staten Island, NY, Sunday and Monday, February 16th and 17th.
- Alissa Hurd won the high jump at the URI Coaches Invitational, the only competitor to clear 1.64m
- Wenesha Stewart claimed third in the shot put, with a throw of 12.97m, while Marina Perry (11.65m) and Payton Lowe (10.99m) were seventh and eighth at the URI meet
- Maegan Desmarais ran 3:07.18 in the 1000m, finishing fourth, and Meghan McPhee was 10th in the race at URI, in a time of 3:15.98
- Kayla Logan ran 1:01.48 in the 400m at the URI Coaches Invitational, good for fifth place in the field
- Lowe had a throw of 15.00m in the weight throw, good for fifth place, with Perry throwing 14.21m to claim eighth
- Kaylee Gravel (1:22.23) and Alexandra Edwards (1:28.75) were sixth and ninth in the URI 500m
- Rachel Bartolucci ran to ninth in the 800m at URI, crossing the line at 2:24.04
- Juliana Cancellieri was the 38th finisher in the 3000m, with a time of 9:52.05, in a field of 68 in Boston
- Nuchwara Inthasit ran 7.99 in the 60m dash, placing 10th in prelims
- Isabella Jensen ran to 10th in the mile at the URI meet, with a run of 5:38.31
- Abbie Burgess jumped 5.02m in her first long jump attempt, finishing 14th, and Erin Egan was 21st with a 4.79m jump
- Egan was 12th in the high jump as well, clearing 1.49m
- Inthasit (1:03.58), Taina DeJesus (1:04.10), Edwards (1:04.45) and Gravel (1:03.27) were fifth in the 4x400 relay at URI, stopping the clock at 4:15.67
